Repair Scope, Warranty & Consumer Guarantee Information

Supertech Electronics repairs factory/OEM automotive electronic units, including factory stereos, navigation units, amplifiers, screens, ICC units and related vehicle electronics.

Many of these units are older, vehicle-specific, discontinued, coded to the vehicle, no longer supported by the manufacturer, or significantly more expensive to replace new. Our repair service is intended to repair the quoted/reported fault where possible. It is not the same as supplying a brand-new unit or fully refurbishing every section of the original unit.

Estimates and quotes

Any price discussed by phone, email, website, or before physical inspection is a pre-inspection estimate only. This estimate is based on the fault information supplied by the customer and our previous experience repairing similar units.

A formal quote can only be confirmed after the unit has been inspected by a technician. If the fault, repair requirements, or repair price changes after inspection, we will contact the customer before carrying out repair work.

If a customer chooses not to proceed after inspection or diagnosis, our minimum inspection/diagnosis fee may apply, along with return freight where applicable.

What the repair price includes

Our repair pricing is not calculated as a parts-only charge.

The repair price may include diagnosis, specialist labour, equipment, programming, firmware or data work, replacement parts where required, testing, previous repair knowledge, in-house research and development, and warranty support for the repair carried out.

We can explain the general nature of the repair, but we do not provide step-by-step repair instructions, programming methods, firmware resources, supplier details, circuit-level repair procedures, or training on how the repair is performed. Customers are paying for a completed repair service, not technical education or disclosure of our internal repair process.

Repair scope

Unless specifically stated otherwise in writing, the repair is limited to the fault quoted and repaired.

A repair of one fault does not mean the complete unit has been refurbished, rebuilt, upgraded, or guaranteed against every other possible future fault.

For example, if a unit is repaired for a rebooting/software/memory fault, that repair does not automatically include unrelated sections such as the power supply, touch panel, buttons, Bluetooth, maps/navigation, CD/DVD mechanism, AM/FM tuner, sound output, vehicle wiring, screen panel, amplifier channels, or any other separate function unless those items are specifically included in the quote.

If an unrelated fault is found during testing, we will advise the customer before carrying out additional paid repair work.

Repair warranty

Supertech Electronics provides a 12-month return-to-base warranty on the repair work carried out by us, unless stated otherwise in writing.

This warranty covers the parts supplied by us and workmanship directly related to the quoted repair.

It does not mean the entire unit has been fully refurbished or warranted as a complete new unit. It does not cover unrelated faults, new faults, vehicle wiring faults, installation faults, liquid damage, physical damage, misuse, tampering, power supply issues caused by the vehicle, or faults in sections of the unit that were not part of the quoted repair.

If a unit is returned under warranty and the fault is confirmed to be related to our repair, the warranty repair will be handled at no charge.

If the returned fault is not related to the repair carried out by us, further inspection, testing, repair and freight charges may apply. We will advise the customer before carrying out additional paid work.

Consumer guarantees

Australian Consumer Law provides automatic consumer guarantees that cannot be excluded, restricted, or replaced by a business warranty.

For repair services, these guarantees include that services must be carried out with due care and skill, be fit for the agreed purpose, and be supplied within a reasonable time where no time has been agreed.

Our repair warranty is provided in addition to these rights. It does not remove any rights a customer may have under Australian Consumer Law.

At the same time, consumer guarantees do not turn a limited repair into a full refurbishment of an older electronic unit. The agreed purpose and scope of the repair remain important. If we are engaged to repair a specific fault, the warranty and service assessment relate to that specific repair unless otherwise stated in writing.

Older electronic units

Many factory vehicle electronic units are already many years old when they arrive for repair. Repairing one fault does not make the entire unit new.

Other parts of the unit may still be original and may fail later due to age, wear, heat, vibration, moisture, previous repairs, vehicle faults, or normal electronic component failure.

Where possible, we test the unit after repair based on the equipment, information and vehicle-level access available to us. However, bench testing cannot always replicate every function, vehicle condition, wiring condition, software state, intermittent fault, or long-term operating environment inside the vehicle.

Repair notices: stored data and refurbished parts

Some electronic units may store user data, settings, paired phones, addresses, radio presets, navigation information or other personal data. During inspection or repair, some or all stored data may be lost.

Goods presented for repair may be replaced by refurbished goods of the same type rather than being repaired. Refurbished parts may be used to repair the goods.

Customers should remove or back up any data before sending a unit for repair where possible.
